Fishing around Freycinet

The Freycinet Peninsula offers a wide range of fishing and diving opportunies. The water is mostly clear and calm and the bright white sand and stunning landscapes provide an excellent backdrop to a days endeavors.

The Blue House is only metres away from the waters edge where an abundance of fish travel in and out with the tide daily. The chances of catching fish near the house is high with many delicious salmon, bream and flathead caught off the beach.

We have a supply of fishing rods and tackle free for guests to use during their stay.
There are also two kayaks at the house for guests which allow you to travel up the river or out into the bay to try your luck with a rod. You could also paddle around to Hepburn Point or Picnic Island in search of a larger catch.

The Blue House is also only one hundred meters away from a boat ramp so if you have your own boat (or charter one) you are right on the door step of some of Tasmania’s great deep sea fishing.

The bay is full of flathead and on a good day does not take long to catch a feed. If you are heading out a little further then you visit the continental shelf where it drops to over 100 metres deep and catch stripey trumpeter, morwong and other deep sea delicacies.
